Enrollment Options
Unique Needs, Unique Options: Selecting Your Enrollment Method
We offer several enrollment options to allow you to select the method that makes enrolling in an HSA the most convenient for you and your employees. While all administrators will tell you about their enrollment options, few will stand behind them and ensure a seamless experience. HSA Bank has developed comprehensive procedures that allow each employee’s account to be opened through a stress-free process.
Detailed information regarding all enrollment methods can be found in the HSA Bank Employer Manual.
Recommended for employers of any size
GOE is a two-part system – employer setup and employee enrollment. The employer setup allows you to choose the way your employees enroll, when the applications are processed, and who will pay for account fees. Once you’ve selected your method and setup is complete with HSA Bank, we will provide a custom link that employees can use to access the GOE system and complete the basic enrollment interface.
Immediate & Batch – We recommend the use of immediate or batch processing for mid-sized and large companies. These processing methods require an employee census file to be uploaded prior to the enrollment period. Census file templates are available on HSA Bank’s Employer Administration Area.
By Approval - We recommend the use of by approval processing for small companies. No census file is required. You approve each individual employee application after the employee has completed the enrollment information.

Electronic File Enrollment
Recommended for large employer groups The Electronic File Enrollment process allows HSA Bank to open an account based on an electronic file and the employer or third-party demonstrating the employee’s intent to open an HSA. Once we receive the electronic file and verify each employee’s identity, the account will open. The electronic file must contain each employee’s name, date of birth, address, social security number, citizenship, and employment status. We have established a variety of data file options for enrollments including: Standard File Exchange: The Standard Enrollment File option allows you to provide enrollment files in a standard file format established by HSA Bank. Custom File Mapping: HSA Bank provides a Custom File Mapping option to allow alternative file formats to be submitted. Contact Business Relations at 866-357-5232, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m., CT, to learn more or initiate the Electronic File Enrollment method. |
Paper Enrollment
Recommended for smaller groups that do not have internet access You may choose to have your employees complete and submit a paper application to setup the HSA. We recommend that you pre-fill the applications with your Federal Tax Identification Number or provide it to your employees to include on the paper application. This will allow us to properly track your group. Paper applications require two to three business days to process after receipt by HSA Bank.
